Accomplishments

Listed below are accomplishments and work in progress

  • Development of a website with a domain name that is registered in Kenya and the USA.
  • On-going discussions with interested parties (stake holders).
  • Surveys of students and other health workers are on-going to obtain information regarding computer 'literacy', interest in service, and training in genetics.
  • The Council is working to establish an advisory board that will comprise administrators and representatives from ministries of health, education and ministry of information and communication.
  • The Council is preparing proposals for funding.
  • The Council is preparing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will describe the terms of engagement among the parties concerned.
  • A student advisory committee was formed at SSOM.
  • A pilot project to demonstrate how medical students in Kenya and the US can collaborate to develop projects that addresses specific health issues in under-served areas of the country using technology under the guidance of faculty, the NGO and Ministry of Health.
